I was fortunate to have seen Prince, known to his family as Prince Rogers Nelson, in concert many years ago. I recall how excited I was to finally witness the Purple Musical Genius in action, especially after his “Purple Rain” groundbreaking tour.
I wish I hadn’t had any expectations of his performance because, unfortunately, it didn’t meet the criteria that his critics had set. Don’t get me wrong, he is definitely a gifted and mega-talented musician, but the concert that evening lacked energy and enthusiasm.
Sometimes, shows are like that. I can’t imagine how difficult it is for bands on tour to consistently perform their best show ever, night after night. That’s an elusive dream to achieve.
